Spain’s Gap Between Rich And Poor Is Biggest In Europe

According to a report by Catholic charity Caritas, the gap between rich and poor in Spain is the biggest in Europe.

The top fifth of Spanish society are currently on average seven and a half times richer than those in the bottom fifth. Three million people live in absolute poverty whilst the number of millionaires has grown by 13% in a year.

General secretary of Caritas España, Sebastián Mora said:

“The report paints a picture of a more fractured, more divided society, where the middle-class is disappearing and a minority has access to wealth, goods and services while the majority sits outside”

Spain is submerged in a pitch-black crisis where its unemployment level is the second highest in Europe, only Greece “beats” them.
