Sprouting Garlic Has Heart-Healthy Antioxidants

Old sprouting garlic bulbs usually end up as litter but that may have been a mistake.  ACS’Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry reports of Korean and Russian scientists who have discovered that old sprouting garlic bulbs are even more nutritious than its fresher counterparts.

Where’s the difference?

The “old” ones have got more heart-healthy antioxidants.

The scientists found out that five days old garlic bulbs had a higher concentration of antioxidants than younger ones, and that it had different metabolites which would suggest that they also produce different substances.
