Brazil: President Dilma Rousseff Promises To Invest R$ 143 billions In Mass Transit
Brazil’s President, Dilma Rousseff, has recently promised in her own Radio Show, “Café com a Presidenta”, to invest R$ 143 billion in mass transit across the country. This includes building nine underground systems.
All in all, 3,500 km will be built. It stretches from underground systems, commuter rail systems, monorail systems to tramway systems.
The following nine cities will be benefitted with new underground systems or extensions to current existing ones:
Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Recife, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo.
…And the following nine cities will see tramways running on their streets:
Cuiabá, Fortaleza, Goiânia, João Pessoa, Maceió, Natal, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Santos.
