Nice’s Line 2

The Thaumasia consortium has been awarded by the Greater Nice Authority a €270m contract to construct a 3.2 km long underground section of the city’s future tramway line (L2).

Four underground stations will be built, of which one of them (Jean Médecin) will be an interchange station with Line 1.
Line 2, with a total of 20 stops, will stretch for 11.3 km from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport and Nikaïa in the west to to the city’s port in the east. 140,000 passengers are expected to use it per day.

The line is expected to be completed by 2017.

Nice will have four underground stations and thus, become more of a Stadtbahn or Pré-Métro network.
