Tornado Outbreak (November 17, USA)

Several powerful thunderstorms and tornadoes ravaged the Midwest on Sunday, crushing whole neighbourhoods and killing five people.

Illinois was the worst hit where tornadoes cut through the state injuring dozens.

– At least 50 homes were crushed by a possible tornado in Brookport.
– More than 80,000 customers were left without electricity.
– Pontiac was heavily damaged.

– Kokomo has declared a state of emergency.
– According to Gov. Mike Pence, Lebanon in central Indiana and Washington in southwestern Indiana were severely. damaged and another 12 counties either got hit by storms or reported tornadoes touching down.
– Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley reported that a teacher had been injured after a storm damaged a school building just south of Lafayette.
– Extensive damage was reported in the northern part of Vermillion County.

– More than 37,000 outages were reported, largely in the St. Louis area, where also trees were uprooted and damaged.
